How to set up your image files for gicleé printing services.

Art Exhibits Marketing requests all image files uploaded for our giclee and poster printing process to be set up according to the steps below.

1. Open the file in your favorite image editing program. Make sure it is the high-res file.

Note: If you don’t have an image editing program, visit our Helpful Guides and Link page. We provided links to popular image editing programs. There is also a link to a very good freeware program.

2. Resize the image to larger than the maximum size of the final print. Change the resolution to 100 dpi or ppi. For digital art or anything with sharp edges and contrasts, 200 dpi or ppi is recommended. When we start to print your order it will print at the best resolution possible to ensure a quality print.

Example: when resizing a 16x20 larger, and we used 36 inches that made it 36x45. Then drop the ppi to 100 and when it is saved to a jpg the file size will be around 4 megs.  When you’re doing a canvas wrap make sure you calculate the wrap sides.

3. Now save the file as a medium compress jpg.

In Photoshop when the JPEG Option window pop-up, type the six in the box next to Quality under Image Option and click OK.

In GIMP when the JPEG Option window pops up, type the number 65 in the box next to the Quality slide bar and click OK.

Note: This is how digital camera technology works. When the picture is taken, the image size is very large. When the image is resized smaller it will make a very crisp print out.

4. After saving the file, it should be under 7megs. The file should not exceed 10 megs to avoid problems during upload. Should you run into problems, please let us know.

5. Next go to Art Exhibits Marketing Gicleé print order form, and fill it out. Upload the jpegs. An invoice will be sent from our PayPal account. Please pay half or the full quoted amount, so we can begin the printing process. You do not need a PayPal account to pay the invoice. We use PayPal because of their security and low cost transaction fees. Your credit card information is not kept or stored to protect you from identity theft.
